Here is a 5 minute conversation about “Relationships and Family” with a background story:

Mini-course Title: Relationship Real Talk

Conversation Title: Discussing Family Expectations

Background: Friends Priya and Ajay meet up for brunch. Priya vents about pressures from her traditional family to get married soon. Ajay relates as his family also nags him about settling down.

Conversation:

Priya: Hey Ajay, sorry I’m late! Have you been waiting long?

Ajay: No worries, just got here 10 minutes ago. How are you doing?

Priya: Ugh, so frustrated. My parents have been hounding me nonstop lately about getting married and having kids ASAP. The nagging is relentless!

Ajay: Oh no, I’m sorry. My parents do the same thing! They keep trying to set me up on dates with random girls and asking when I’ll “find someone.”

Priya: Right? It’s like I’m on some deadline before they consider me an old spinster. I know they mean well but the pressure is too much sometimes.

Ajay: Totally get it. I wish our families could just let us live our lives on our own timelines. We know they care but the constant judgment is the worst.

Priya: Seriously! All I want is for them to back off a bit. I’m focused on my career right now, marriage can wait. If only they could understand that.

Ajay: I feel you. We’ve just got to tune them out and make our own choices. Easier said than done but we can’t let them stress us out.

Priya: Too true. At least we can vent to each other when the family drama gets to be too much! Misery loves company, haha.
