In this section you will encounter a two students discussing university accommodation options.
Woman: Hi John! Have you decided on university housing for next term?
Man: Hey Lisa. Not yet – I’m trying to decide between staying in the dorms again or getting an off-campus apartment. What are you planning?
Woman: I was thinking of moving into that new apartment building on the south edge of campus. It just opened last year.
Man: Oh yeah, I checked that place out. It looks really nice, and the apartments come furnished. But don’t they cost a lot for a student budget?
Woman: The rent is more expensive than the dorms. But I figure by sharing a two-bedroom unit with a roommate, it’ll be affordable if we split costs.
Man: That’s smart. How is the location – pretty convenient to classes?
Woman: It’s maybe a 10 or 15 minute walk to the main lecture halls, not too bad. And there are restaurants and cafes in the ground floor of the building. Oh, and it has a gym and study lounges too.
Man: Cool, that does sound like a good set-up. Is it easy to meet people there do you think? Making new friends was one thing I liked in the dorms.
Woman: From what I heard, there are social events to help people get to know each other. But yeah, maybe not as social as a regular dorm. We should try to get rooms on the same floor!
Man: That’s a great idea! I’m pretty convinced on looking at getting a place in that building now.
